Gucci: 90 years-a Car Named 500- and Fall 2011

This year Gucci is celebrating their 90th anniversary. In much anticipated celebration they are not only releasing some of their best runway work but a car with another famous Italian company Fiat.

"Gucci creative director Frida Giannini in collaboration with Fiat’s design office has customized the iconic Fiat 500, or as it’s known in Italian,  “cinquecento.” -Gucci.com

The car comes in glossy black and white and boasts the signature Gucci green and red stripe on the exterior as well as inside on the seats, gearshift, carpet, and seat belts. Sounds delicious, right!?  

“When the Fiat 500 first hit the road in the fifties it created a style revolution.” says creative director Frida Gianinni. “Gucci’s history has always been about traveling in style so when this collaboration came up, it struck me as the perfect opportunity to create a new modern travel statement.” -Gucci.com

And you can even purchase accessories to wear while your riding in style. Gucci is offering a line of travel accessories, leather goods, track suits, driving accessories and sunglasses. Ooh, la, la!

In other news Gucci's Fall 2011 line previewed in Milan recently and is sexier than ever. Colorful flowing fabrics and furs... it's reminiscent of colorful comic book characters like Dick Tracy, but done right!

It's well known amongst friends and family that the Rodarte fashion house is nothing short of my favorite! They are like a cross between Marc Jacobs and Alberta Feretti... hard edges and soft lines meeting for a form and function like no other.

Today's Favorite Finds: Blake Lively-SATC, Petro Zilia for Froever 21, and Urban Outfitters Wedding Dresses

Blake Lively might play Carrie Bradshaw in a prequel to the two former SATC movies movies from producer Michael Patrick King. At first it was a shock, but ultimately the idea has grown on me. She's perfect for the roll! The Observer reported that King may be interested in adapting author Candace Bushnell's bestselling book The Carrie Diaries, about Bradshaw's teenage years and her move to NYC.


Love this idea, and really hope that if they do go through with it, that it makes up for the horrifyingly bad second installment of the movie franchise. Here's hoping! Read the article on Refinery29.com.

Petro Zilia for Forever 21 is in stores now. Designers everywhere have been teaming up with lower priced retailers to bring their product to the masses. Lanvin and H&M, Target and whoever is next, etc.
Petro Zilia's line for Forever 21 is the second joint venture embarked upon by Forever 21. They started with designer Brian Lichtenberg and will be working with Rory Beca after Zilia. Be sure to check out the line ASAP as they usually sell out fast! See the line here.

And last but not least... Urban Outfitters launches Bhldn Wedding Dress e-commerce site on Monday! How sweet is that... they are launching on Valentine's day. I'm actually an avid non-supporter of the holiday but the timeliness of the launch date has even melted my ice cold heart. This is quite possibly my favorite news of the week. Not because I love Urban that much, but because I saw some pics last year that were striking and memorable to say the least. Can't wait to see the rest. Read the article here. Elle Fanning & Rodarte make a film?

Tomorrow on Nowness.com a short film called "The Curve of Forgotten Things" is set to premiere. The film was created by the Rodarte ladies and director Todd Cole with music by Deerhunter. The star? Elle Fanning.

Which seems odd since she hasn't spent much time in the spot light and is relatively young. I'm admittedly still looking forward to it, however. The director has said that the film is "inspired by Northern California, and the Seventies, It's about this girl who exists in this strange place outside of time. She's digging up things from the land and the past, and she offers them to the sun."

Sounds interesting!
